I was just thinking about this analogy the other day while talking with a friend about her father's addiction to alcohol. She doesn't drink alcohol because she sees how it has enslaved her father and sister. Our family seems more sensitive and not immune to the sexual jokes or the "not that bad" sex scenes in movies in the world today because of my husband's addiction to pornography.
It definitely affects some different then others. Thank you for this perspective.

My husband is a sex/porn addict. He was the head of an addiction recovery program in Utah and is now a facilitator for the LDS church 12 step program. He is a recovering addict. There is no question in either of our minds that porn is a drug!! Be it compared to alcohol or heroine, it is worse than either of them!! Porn affects more sensory and physical areas of the body than any drug and is harder to overcome. It is an addiction at the cellular level. It travels through the eyes, into the brain and then hits the pleasure area of the brain and body. It is Satans tool to disconnect men and women from their roles of husband and wife, mother and father. It has created a generation of single people who don't need companions, because they have porn. We have friends that have had other addictions and have given them up completely and who cannot overcome pornography. There is more than just addiction with pornogrphy, it attacks our procreative gifts from God, some addicts have been abused and use porn as their drug of choice to relieve pain and guilt, which leads to more pain and guilt. Thank you for your research and your desire to help those trapped in this addiction. One look at porn will kill you, spiritually, that is the sad truth science doesn't tell us or even believe. But, as the prophets have testified, pornography is a drug and the plague of this generation and I'm going with God, not science, on this one!! This is my belief and isn't an argument on your research or anyone else's beliefs. Thank you for helping those in need.
